Join the Young Marines

Thank you for your interest in joining our unit. 

​

To become a Young Marine, all youth members must complete Recruit Training. Recruit Training is designed to teach the recruits the basics of what it means to be a Young Marine.

Recruits will learn: 

 

  • Teamwork, Leadership, and Discipline

  • Close Order Drill

  • Military Terms and Jargon

  • Uniform care

  • Land Navigation and orienteering

  • Physical Fitness and Health

  • Life Skills

  • And More!

Things you need to know before joining:
Youth members must be at least 10 years old and not over 18 years old
.
Recruits complete an average of 50 hours of training over the course of 10 Saturdays.

Recruits are required to pass or improve a physical fitness test. Complete all classes and sign-off requirements. Pass a uniform inspection and close order drill evaluation.

On the last weekend of recruit training, recruits attend a weekend-long campout at Tyler State Park where recruits put to the test the things they learned during recruit training. And are promoted to Young Marines during a graduation ceremony on Sunday.

Rose City Young Marines

Rose City Young Marines is the first Young Marines unit to come to East Texas. The unit chartered in January 2022 with two established Young Marines leading the way. Graduating our first group of recruits in May 2022 the unit quickly grew to over 20 Young Marines.

The Rose City Young Marines stands out as a unit that strives for strength through perseverance by always challenging its members to strive for more, go farther, &  never give up.
